Nytol Reviews

Does Nytol Really Work?

Created by GlaxoSmithKline, Nytol is a popular sleep aid using the active ingredient known as diphenhydramine hydrochloride. It is an over the counter drug that they claim will induce drowsiness and encourage the onset of natural sleep. It was acquired by this particular company in 2001 with the purchase of Block Drug.

So does it work? It is for extremely short term use. Therefore, if you have serious insomnia problems it is not for you. It is more for those who for example might suffer a temporary jet lag related problem, limiting its general scope. For that reason alone, there are without question better options.

But while not recognized as being addictive, it has been known to cause various side effects such as motor impairment, dry mouth and throat, flushed skin, rapid or irregular heartbeat, blurred vision, abnormal sensitivity to light, pupil dilation, urinary retention, constipation, difficulty concentrating, irregular breathing, hallucinations, and various other problems.

So obviously, maybe Nytol should be a prescription. Yes, it induces drowsiness. But it goes without saying that it goes too far. It causes some quite potentially serious side effects, and frankly speaking we would consider it dangerous. Nytol is one product that without question, we would not recommend using.
